BopPad Galaxy with Pulse

Use BopPad Galaxy, Pulse’s first supported external sample-triggering MIDI controller, alongside Pulse’s built-in pad controls and Flow Mode Transport.

Applies to: ShowGen 1.0 · Updated: 2026-10-04

Muse Kinetics BopPad Galaxy is Pulse’s first supported external sample-triggering MIDI controller. Pulse owns the samples, pad assignments, and playback workflow; BopPad Galaxy supplies physical MIDI input. Pulse remains usable with its built-in pad controls when no external device is connected.

Use BopPad Galaxy while reading a chart

In Presentation → Widget View, enable Show Trigger Device to open BopPad Mini while reading a Chart or performing a Sheets Setlist. With Flow Mode off, save a setup to the current Chart; in Flow Mode, Pulse uses the current Song’s assignments. The Flow Mode Transport is available only while Flow Mode is on, and Pulse’s on-device pad controls remain available independently.

Transparency and Brightness change the appearance of Pulse’s on-device pad controls. They do not change BopPad Galaxy input, pad assignments, or pad activity feedback.

Chart setups and named presets are stored locally and included in ShowGen Backup. Do not confuse that portable backup with automatic iCloud transfer; physical hardware choices remain device-local. Factory Default cannot be overwritten. In Flow Mode, Import from Chart is available only when a linked Chart has a saved setup. Confirm Import or Replace to copy it into the current Song. Later Chart and Song edits remain separate. See BopPad Mini configurations for the save and preset controls.

Does Pulse keep working without BopPad Galaxy?

Yes. Pulse’s current-Song pads, audio, and configured MIDI input remain active while Sheets is visible. You can use Pulse’s on-device controls without BopPad Galaxy; an external device is optional.

Follower BopPad Galaxy behavior

On an ECHOSystem Host, BopPad Galaxy can trigger the Host’s normal current-Song assignments. On a synchronized Follower, Pulse exposes only the Host’s eligible Loop Toggle assignments for remote triggering. One Shot assignments and unassigned quadrants are blank, and accepted loop audio plays on the Host.

To allow this, the Host must enable Allow Followers to Trigger Loops. See ECHOSystem.

Additional MIDI trigger devices

BopPad Galaxy is the first supported sample-triggering device for Pulse. Support for additional compatible MIDI trigger devices is planned for future releases.

Hardware availability and the roadmap

The manufacturer calls the device BopPad Galaxy. See the manufacturer information for the hardware. ShowGen compatibility guidance comes from the current app; a product listing alone does not establish compatibility with every device or connection.

ShowGen intends an open-ended range of compatible trigger devices over time. Broader support and richer sample management are planned; they are not promises that every MIDI device already works. You can help test the current user-sample import and on-screen pads without purchasing hardware.
