Getting Started with Flow

Build the Song Library, set up your band, generate a first show, and protect the library.

Start with Songs

Start by importing a song list or adding songs manually. You do not need to finish every song detail before generating a first show: ShowGen can suggest placeholder information for incomplete imports.

Flow is the home for saved Songs. Open a Song to update the title and the musical details you use, including BPM, duration, genres, ratings, placements, notes, and performer information. Flow owns the saved BPM; Pulse can use a temporary live tempo, and Save Tempo to Song is the deliberate action that writes that live value back to Flow.

Import songs and set up the band

Use Import Songs for CSV files, spreadsheets, PDFs, screenshots, scans, and photos of song lists. Review the detected songs and suggested missing values before adding anything to the Song Library. For structured batch editing, use the official ShowGen Song Spreadsheet workflow.

Open Band & Members to create the band profile, add performers, and define their instruments and roles. Songs imported before setup can temporarily use Unassigned until you connect them to the appropriate member.

Generate a first show

Create or select an engagement, make sure the songs you want are available, then generate a Show. Flow uses the active rules, Song information, and duration goal to organize the result. You can edit sets and song order afterward, including before a performance.

For a saved performance Show, see Current Engagements and Shows.

Back up the library

Export Library Backup creates a complete .showgenlibrary file containing the ShowGen library, including Songs, members, settings, saved Shows, charts, and supported assets. Import Library Backup restores a complete backup and replaces the current library after confirmation.

Importing an ordinary song-list file is separate from a complete library restore and does not replace the library.
