Configure a pad
Choose a Sound, One Shot or Loop playback, and Pitch Variation for a pad. For looping pads, also choose a Rhythmic Value and Hit Placement.
Accent Placement can be Off, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1 & 3, 2 & 4, 1 & 2 & 3 & 4, or &s. It chooses the exact accented hit; Accent Volume raises only those hits. When a Sound has an optional Accent Take, Pulse uses it for the accent while Pitch Variation still applies to the take that plays. &s accents the offbeat eighth notes: 1& 2& 3& 4&.
Connect MIDI and shape velocity
In Settings → MIDI, choose a device and map its notes to the four logical pads. Enable Use MIDI Velocity to let harder external MIDI One Shot hits play louder, then adjust Velocity Sensitivity for the response you want.
Screen hits stay at their normal level. MIDI velocity used to start a Loop does not set that Loop’s scheduled volume.
For pad triggering, Sounds, the Mixer, and the Live Show Setlist, see Live Performance with Pulse.
