Getting Started with ShowGen

Start ShowGen 1.0 on iPhone, iPad or Mac; understand Profiles, Working Band, local use and sign-in.

Applies to: ShowGen 1.0 · Updated: 2026-10-04

ShowGen 1.0 supports iPhone, iPad and Mac as the same product with the same subscription entitlement; see the homepage for verified public App Store installation availability. Start with the tools you need: Flow, Sheets, Pulse, and Ears are four independent modules. ECHOSystem connects their live performance context across participating devices; it is not another module.

Create or select your Profile

On first launch, create your ShowGen Profile, or look for an existing Profile with your Apple/iCloud account. Your Profile represents you. Home opens even if you have no Band. If you have a pending Band invitation, review that invitation after creating or selecting your Profile.

Choose Working Band on Home before preparing that Band’s Flow Songs, Shows, Rules and roster. Home also provides Create Band and Delete Band. Personal / No Active Band lets you work without a Band; Sheets Charts and Pulse Sounds remain personal whichever Band you select.

Start with a module

  • Flow: organize Songs, review the Band roster, and build Shows manually or with Rules / Generate.
  • Sheets: import or scan Charts, edit text charts, and perform independent Sheets Setlists.
  • Pulse: use the metronome, on-screen pads, factory and imported Sounds, and optional MIDI hardware.
  • Ears: control a personal monitor mix on a supported Behringer X32 or Midas M32, or explore Demo Mode.

Prepare a first Flow performance

  1. Choose the Working Band on Home.
  2. Add Songs in Flow → Songs, or import Charts in Sheets and create or link their Flow Songs.
  3. Open Flow → Shows → New Show and enter Event Details.
  4. Choose Generate Show or Create Manually, review the Show Editor, and Save.
  5. Choose Sheets to Follow on the saved Show.
  6. Enable Flow Mode in Flow’s toolbar, or hold the Flow icon for about 1.3 seconds. Linked Charts and the live sequence can now follow that Show.

To perform Charts independently, leave Flow Mode off and use Sheets → Setlists → Perform.

Local work, sign-in and connections

With a verified active subscription, creating and editing local Songs, Charts and Shows, running Pulse, and using Flow Mode locally do not require a ShowGen Account or a continuous Internet connection. Offline access stays within the StoreKit-verified access period; see Subscription and Purchases. Sign in with Apple connects the separate ShowGen Account for online services such as Band invitations and Connection Codes. App Store installation and online Band Sync/invitations need Internet access.

Band Sync keeps shared Band Flow data current for active members; Personal Flow uses its own authenticated Flow sync scope. Applicable private iCloud sync handles your own supported data, not shared Band Flow records. Both are separate from ECHOSystem. A live ECHOSystem session needs a shared local network; Ears needs a supported mixer reachable on that network. Download or import the material you need before going offline.
